Why we’re here

Stability starts with
a place to belong.

One Step Closer to Home is a developing nonprofit initiative supporting single mothers and their children facing housing instability in Waco and McLennan County.

Our mission is to work toward safe transitional housing and connect families with resources that promote stability and independence. We believe a fresh start grows stronger with encouragement, practical support and community.

Building our foundation
Our housing program is in development and is not currently accepting residents. We’re building the partnerships, resources and support needed to bring this vision to life.
The future we’re building

More than a roof.
A foundation for what’s next.

Our planned approach brings housing and supportive resources together, helping families take meaningful steps toward lasting independence.

03 / A PATH FORWARD

Tools for independence

Financial preparation, savings goals and move-in planning to help families prepare for their next chapter.
